A population study on gene frequencies of ABO, MNSs, P, Rhesus including
rhw1(Cw), Lutheran, Kell, Lewis, Duffy and Kidd blood
groups of Koreans was performed with additional Wrighta,
Diegoa blood group antigens detection. The number of subjects tested
were variable from 550,861 on ABO to 97 on Kell blood groups.
The results are summarized as follows:
The percentage of phenotypes of O,A,B and AB are 27.5425%, 34.2342%, 26.8447% and
11.3786% with gene frequencies of 0.5255 in 0,0.2615 in A and 0.2130 in B.
The phenotype frequencies of MN blood group are M 26.5%, MN 48.1%, N 25.1% and
M-N-0.3%. One M-N-blood group is found and its gene is regarded as
Mg. The gene frequencies of M,N and Mg are 0.4960, 0,4492
and 0.0548 respectively.
The phenotype frequencies of Ss blood group are S 1.7%, Ss 7.4%, s 87.5% and
5-5-3. B%, There are 6 S-s- phenotypes among 176 subjects tested and its gene is
Su. The gene frequencies are S 0.0466, s 0.7690 and Su
0.1844. The affinity to S is 10.3% in M blood group and 7.1% in N blood group.
The P₁+ reaction is 45.2% among 321 subjects tested and its gene frequency is
0.2597.
In Rhesus blood group, the frequencies of 4 gene complex s -R1,
R2, R0, Rz are 0.6481, 0.2698, 0.0755, 0.0046
respectively, The positive reaction of 5 major Rhesus antigens and Cw are
D+99.95%, C+82.25%, c+56.80%, Cw+0.00%, E+49.70% and e+87.57%.
In Lutheran blood group, Lu(a+b+) is 0.5% and Lu(a-b+) is 99. 5%. The gene
frequency of Lua is 0.0025 and Lub is 0.9975.
In Kell blood group, none of 97 subjects tested shows K+ reaction.
In Lewis blood group, phenotype frequencies are Le(a+b-) 16.1%, Le(a-b+) 70.2% and
Le(a-b-) 13.7% with the gene frequencies of Le 0. 6299 and le 0.3701.
In Duffy blood group, phenotype frequencies are Fy (a+b-) 56.3%, Fy(a+b+)39.8% and
Fy(a-b+) 3.9% with the gene frequencies of Fya 0.8025 and
Fyb 0.1975.
In Kidd blood group the phenotype frequencies are Jk (a+b-) 20.4%, Jk(a+b+) 46.8%,
Jk(a-b+), 30.2% and Jk(a-b-)2.6% with the gene frequencies of JkaO.4273,
Jkb 0.4115 and Jk 0.1612.
The frequencies of phenotype are Dia 12, 6% and Wra 0.
7% with the gene frequencies of Dia 0.0651 and Wra 0. 0035.
